I was at the pharmacy a few weeks ago, picking up a prescription, and found this gem of a sign... I had to pull out my cell and take a pic! So just as a warning, this post is going to be just a random smear of thoughts and recent/future happenings with no real point to them other than maybe for documentation’s sake, if that. :)
Anyway, we have been really sick around here! I seriously never get sick and it has been just one thing after another. I have been trying to be healthier lately too- hitting up the gym every day but Sunday- which is supposed to increase the immune system’s capacity to fight off those nasty bugs I’ve been getting. From going to the gym so much though, I’ve been able to lose 12 pounds! It took me about a month and this is probably the record amount of weight I’ve ever lost (besides from pregnancy). I have never really tried to lose weight (gasp! I know.) but I recently made the decision to create and start living a healthier lifestyle for me and my family. I really believe it all plays a role in the word of wisdom. Through the little changes I have made, I have gained a stronger testimony of the word of wisdom and it’s power to not only enhance our physical stamina but also give spiritual strength.
Logan and I haven’t been hitting up Disneyland as much as we normally do. Logan keeps talking about going to the ocean. I really want to take him, but it has been so cold at the beach lately (cold for here at least; compared to Utah it’s not cold at all and yes, I am thankful) and I KNOW he will want to “get in”. So, I’ve been avoiding it altogether. I figure that with me not teaching any swimming lessons this summer (it was too much time away from Logan), we will have ample opportunities to go and enjoy warm beach weather. :) :) Love the beach!!
We are planning some really fun vacations for this summer, too. We are going to be camping on the beach in June for a week with Charity and Don. I’m stoked for that. My uncle, aunt and cousins will be there too, just on a different camping site. Logan loves playing with my cousin Lacy, who is just a year older than him. Then, in August, we are planning a trip to El Salvador and Guatemala. We will be renting a vacation house with all the Goldings. We’re excited for that adventure.
I have been able to teach seminary for the past few days and I have to say, it is so much different than I expected it to be. I expected zombies at 6 in the morning. Quite the contrary- they were very much alive and awake. It has been great to experience what Greg has been doing every morning for the past 5 months. He was sustained Sunday for a new calling in the single’s branch presidency though, which we are thinking will give me more of an opportunity to fill in for him for seminary (we don’t think they will be finding a new teacher). I love D&C, so I’m more than happy to teach, especially with the amazing kids in the class. (It helps too that Logan still takes afternoon naps which means a nap for me too on the days I teach!)
This is pretty much going to be a picture post... I have so many pictures from last year that I haven’t posted! The first picture above was my attempt at a family christmas picture... Next are a few Disneyland pictures. Logan has been getting pretty good at scoring on the Buzz Lightyear ride! I swear I didn’t help him at all!

Next are some pictures from the zoo and the bay from Thanksgiving... I sure do miss these people! (I think all the pics of Ruthie and I are on her camera! Bummer. She is in the 2nd pic though!)

This next pic is when Logan fell asleep in the car with his work goggles on (they came in a tool kit he got from his Uncle Jordan for his bday). They are one of his favorite toys.

During Christmas time at Disneyland, we went and saw Santa in California Adventure. For some reason, Santa and Logan always equal an awkward picture. (Logan looks cute, it’s Santa that is creepin me out!)

More Disneyland pictures.... (have I mentioned we love Disneyland?)

It’s been a while. Life got so crazy the past few months! We had my family here in California for Thanksgiving. Probably the best Thanksgiving EVER. It was so much fun. We went to San Diego Zoo and to the bay. This year, we stayed here for for Christmas too. It was our first year having Christmas with just our family (Greg, Logan, and I). I can’t describe how special it was for us, celebrating Christmas in our own home, having Logan open presents with JUST US and starting our own traditions. Just for the sake of having this documented, Logan got a Buzz Lightyear, a little train set, and the rest of the “How Does a Dinosaur...” series books. I am going to post pictures of that once I find my cord to my camera. I do have some video... that will definitely be posted. In the mean time, here are our family pictures plus a few from Halloween and one from Disneyland.

Logan loves hugging Pooh Bear at Disneyland. (Huge source of bribery for mom!)

Logan playing with Victoria at the Canyon Lake Halloween Trick or Treat. (We used the same costume as last year.)
This past summer was pretty crazy. Most of my friends and all of my family know I was in a car accident in July and then in August I was in the hospital for a few weeks with meningitis. On top of that, I taught swimming lessons for the entire summer (which ended up being the hugest blessing because we were able to pay the medical bills and insurance fees- phew!). So I still want to post an update of everything that happened this summer.
First, we spent a LOT of time at the beach. (Logan with my cousins.)

We spent the fourth of July at Coronado island. I highly recommend it. (I took that picture of the bay. No joke.)

Then Ruthie came out for a visit. We love her!

The beach wore us out!

I have even more pictures but I am having issue with my camera or computer... not sure which isn’t working. So, more of our summer to come later!
